More Than Just Food—It’s About Thriving

When Fatima brought her son Ahmed to our nutrition clinic in Mogadishu, he was listless and underweight. Like many mothers, she was doing her best with what she had, but didn’t know that the way she was preparing his meals wasn’t giving him the nutrients he needed to grow strong.

Our nutrition work is deeply personal. We sit with mothers like Fatima, learning about their daily routines, their challenges, and their hopes for their children. We don’t just tell people what to eat—we work with them to find practical solutions that fit their lives and their budgets.

What we do:

  • Provide hands-on nutrition counseling that respects cultural traditions while introducing healthier practices
  • Monitor children’s growth and catch problems early, before they become serious
  • Support pregnant and nursing mothers with the specific nutrition information they need
  • Train community health workers who become trusted voices in their own neighborhoods
  • Respond quickly when malnutrition threatens lives, especially during emergencies

Today, Ahmed is a healthy, energetic boy who loves to play football. His mother now teaches other women in her community what she learned. That’s the ripple effect we’re working toward.
