Growing Strength From Within
We believe the solutions to Somalia’s nutrition challenges lie within Somali communities themselves. Our job isn’t to be the experts who swoop in with all the answers. Our job is to identify, train, and support the local champions who will be there long after any project ends.
These are people like Halima, a respected elder in her village, who became a nutrition champion after attending our training. She now advises young mothers and has become the go-to person for nutrition questions in three surrounding villages.
What we do:
- Train community health workers in nutrition, counseling, and health education
- Build the skills of local leaders to advocate for nutrition programs and policies
- Strengthen local organizations working on health and nutrition
- Mentor young professionals entering the nutrition and public health fields
- Create peer learning networks where communities share what works
We measure our success not by how many programs we run, but by how many capable, confident people we help develop—people who will keep this work going and growing.
